Teaching Methodology

KKEL methodology is based on the Multiple Intelligences Theory which ensures whole- brain learning. The different parts of the brain are used and do not limit any child to a preconceived notion of how smart they are. Our curriculum emphasizes real - life learning not memorization of information. We celebrate learning with our children and let them know that their potential is limitless by incorporating multiple intelligences, interdisciplinary themes and Bloom's Taxonomy.

Beyond Academics

Theme based Special days, Culminating Activities, Dress up Days, Events and Field Trips are organized on regular basis to help children recapitulate and have in depth understanding of the themes/concepts.

Infrastructure

Kangaroo Kids, Tiruttani is extremely vibrant and learner friendly. The Centre has excellent facilities to offer to its students and they are as follows:

Play area : Play area is quite colourful and beautifully designed for the preschoolers to play and enjoy the company of their friends. It was equippedwith swings, slides and see-saws .Children are provided with toys/equipment like sand play moulds, spades, rake, small buckets, scoops etc to make play time more joyful.

Class Rooms : There are in total 7 class rooms in preschool area. The decor of each room is unique and apt for the activities that are held there.

    • Physical Development : The activities that are held - art/craft/story time/ role play, perceptual motor programme, gross motor and music and movement. These activities help in the development of fine motor and gross motor skills of children.
    • Cooperative Learning : Activities held in math and language, Activity Books and Hindi. Children learn to work in smaller and bigger groups.
    • Cognitive and Language Development Room : To encourage learning, problem solving and logical thinking, children are involved in the activities like Number Readiness and Class workbooks. Activities related with Reading Readiness are also conducted and the purpose is to help children develop language skills through listening, speaking, reading and writing.
    • Social and Emotional Development Room : To achieve a sense of self, to take responsibility for self and others and to learn to behave pro socially, children are exposed to the activities like Informal Conversation, Circle Time, Concept and Sight Reading Programme in this room.

Skill Observation and Assessment

Assessment is the process of gathering and analyzing information about children to understand the teaching – learning style. At preschool level it is closely connected to curriculum learning. Teachers observe children, guide their learning and assess their progress. The progress made by the students is shared with the parents during Parent Teacher Meetings that are held four times in an academic session.


Curriculum is designed at developing the intellectual, social, cultural, emotional & physical aspects of a child's personality.

Primary School (Grade I-IV)

We fortify the foundation in the primary years, enabling children to face any examination confidently and come out with flying colours. The curriculum is multi-dimensional in its approach. We organize instructions around themes with broad possibilities, with natural connections to other generative topics.

Teaching Methodology

This is how they learn about themselves and their world. Hence, the focus is on experiential learning rather than rote memorization. This is achieved by designing an integrated theme based curriculum which is sequentially developed to increase in complexity. To ensure that each child is impacted, the curriculum caters to diverse learning styles. The curriculum is based on recent brain research developments. In a brain-based instruction, the teacher perceives her role as one who orchestrates experience. It is teaching for active processing rather than direct instruction. The ultimate destination is growth in all facets of a child's personality- Intellect, Attitude and Ability to ensure a happy and productive childhood.

Middle School (Grade V-VIII)

The Billabong High International, Tiruttani Middle School curriculum is aligned to the directives of the prescribed Board with reference to the aims and objectives, the base content, the structure of curriculum and the prescribed system of evaluation. This thought creates the foundation for every stride that BHIS takes while designing the learning experiences for its students. Thus, a methodical approach towards each component crafts an efficient, effective curriculum which very unpretentiously weaves the lofty yet practical goals of education into every explicit and implicit program, such that children see learning areas and subjects as vehicles for understanding the world in which they live - a world which then becomes challenging and worth exploring.
